Dermer Appel Ruder, LLC is a personal injury law firm in Peachtree Corners, GA. The Firm’s Partners have an interest in making our roadways safer for everyone. Safety starts with making certain that new drivers have the driver training they need to become safe drivers. DriveSmart offers driver training programs along with serving as a GA DMV authorized testing center where the Georgia driver’s license test is administered. If you complete the 30-hour Drivers Education class and at least six hours on the road driving instruction with a trained DriveSmart instructor, you are then able to take your Georgia driver’s license exam at any DriveSmart Georgia location. So, grab your computer and enter this contest to win a DriveSmart Road Wise Driving Package, a $499 value.
Section I – General Rules
Beginning on May 20, 2019 and ending 11:59 PM, July 15, 2019 (the “Contest Period”), Dermer Appel Ruder, LLC will conduct an essay contest, focusing on “Why Getting my driver’s license is important to me”(the “Contest”). To enter, eligible students (see Section II for eligibility requirements) must submit an entry that follows the Submission Guidelines as detailed in Section III. We will not accept or consider entries that are mailed-in. As further detailed in Section VII, entrants agree to accept and be bound by all terms of these Official Rules and Regulations and to accept and be bound by the decisions of the Judges, whose decisions are final with respect to all matters of the Contest.
Only one entry per student is permitted. Entries that are incomplete, are submitted late, or otherwise do not comply with these Official Rules and Regulations will not be accepted. By entering the Scholarship Contest, entrants agree that the Dermer Appel Ruder, LLC will own and administer 100% of the copyright in all entries submitted, with the perpetual right to use such entries and that said entries are solely the work of the entrant for whom they are submitting an entry.
Section II – Eligibility
The Contest is open to students enrolled in one of the Gwinnett County High School’s listed below and who are who are no older than 16 years old, who are in or entering grades 9 -10 attending one of the Gwinnett County public school’s listed below, who do not have a valid driver’s license at the time of submission of the entry and have not taken a driver’s education course either through a private company or through their respective high school.

- Meadowcreek High School
- Berkmar High School
- Peachtree Ridge High School
- Duluth High School
Section III – Submission Guidelines
Each submission must adhere to the topic and to the word limits (between 750 and 850 words). All entries must be submitted by 11:59 pm EST on the deadline date. Submissions accepted by e-mail only to firstname.lastname@example.org. Only one essay per student will be accepted.
Section IV – Judging and Timing
The judges will determine the winner from all the eligible entries received. Entries will be evaluated based upon adherence to the Submission Guidelines (as stated in Section III), originality, organization, writing style, and depth of analysis. Winners will be announced on the DAR Facebook page by July 30, 2019.
The decision of the judges is within their sole and absolute discretion and is final.
Section V – Awards
Winners must provide a photo of themselves for posting on social media (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn) and information as well as Social Security number in order to receive the scholarship. Social Security numbers are requested from winners for tax purposes only. Dermer Appel Ruder, LLC will not sell, nor use student Social Security numbers for any reason other than the required reporting for Federal tax purposes. Winner will receive the following prize based upon the judges’ evaluations as outlined in Section IV.
Prize – Road Wise Driver Ed Package through DriveSmart Georgia, a $499 value, which includes 30 classroom hours, 6 hours of in-car lessons. Note, a learner’s permit is required for in-car lessons, but not for classes.
Prize will be awarded within 30 days of the close of the Contest and must be used within 6 months of being awarded.
Section VI – Privacy Statement
Upon submission of an entry, the entry becomes the property of Dermer Appel Ruder, LLC. By entering the Contest, entrants grant Dermer Appel Ruder, LLC the right, unless prohibited by law, to use their names, cities and states of residence, pictures, and likenesses without compensation, for the express purpose of advertising and publicity of the Contest in any and all media, now or after.
Section VII – Availability Disclaimer
The administration of the Contest, including, without limitation, determination of eligibility of a student or entry, selection of a judge, evaluations of entries, and awarding of the prize, is within the sole and absolute discretion of Dermer Appel Ruder, LLC. All decisions of the judges are final.
